- Um.. No. No offense, but as much as I enjoy the Dragaera books, I'm not quite that much of a geek. Besides, I don't know enough people who like them that would get the reference anyway. - For the same reasons, I too have only used "gya" on the mailing list. Heck, even SKZB doesn't use the word. As with so many things relating to Paarfi, probably the only reason to bring it up was to mess with the minds of the readers. See also "bungalow", in tPotD.
- A real-world indeterminate-gender pronoun is probably best served by the word "they".

- I've seen this very topic debated amongst English professors. Some favor this approach, others argue that pluralizing it only adds to the confusion, and suggest using "he/she" or "s/he" instead. Steve tends to just use "he", which is the more traditional (if somewhat non-PC) way of dealing with it. However, if avoiding ambiguity is really the point, I would assert that using "gya" (or any other invented word to fill this "void" in the language) is entirely counter-productive. Heh.
