Do we know that he ever stopped being heir? Or is it just that he became Dragon Heir (due to the Yendi conspiracy) prior to Tortaalik's reign? --Majikjon 01:01, 19 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Yes, we know that he stopped being Heir. Yendi nearly says as much when describing the e'Lanya Scandal, and Paarfi nails it down in the preface to The Paths of the Dead:

The reader may recall that when we were first introduced to Lord Adron, in our history of The Phoenix Guards, he was then the Dragon Heir. When he appeared in our later history of Five Hundred Years After, he was the Dragon Heir. If there was, in between, a period of time, more or less prolonged, in which he was not the Heir, we can hardly be held responsible for failing to describe events that fall outside of the realm of our investigations.
[...]
A certain Dragonlord, the Count of Kee-Laiyer Meadows, who was the Dragon Heir for a short time early in Tortaalik's reign, was killed in battle with an army commanded by Sethra Lavode.

Note also that K'laiyer was Heir at some point during Tortaalik's reign - which had just barely begun in TPG (literally a few days in). So he must have been Heir after, and before, Adron.

I nearly think that settles it (thanks to Amazon Search inside).
